A Family Tradition

What sort of 'family traditions' do you look forward to and remember each year?
This afternoon our family decorated our annual Christmas Cake.  Abbie baked the cake (and did an excellent job) several days ago so today we could create our nativity scene. All the characters (and the star and animals) are made out of icing.

It was quite a team effort, with even the younger ones creating some of the characters. It is really easy to forget that Christmas is not a time for perfection, but a time to have fun together remembering the birth of Jesus Christ, even if that means sacrificing what might have been a much more perfect job!

Have a wonderful few days preparing for Christmas and may the Lord bless you all this week.

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” -Matthew 1:21

  1. So, I'm naughty but I have to wonder...do you each take turns eating Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the animals, etc? The cake is beautiful, by the way! Good job, Abbie!

    1. I know that this sounds like a terrible waste but normally we don't eat much of the icing, as we don't like the idea of all the preservatives and artificial colors!
What we do eat is pretty much a matter of who first said that they wanted a certain character. Sometimes we will share a 'sought after' one between several of us though.
Yes, I agree that Abbie did an excellent job! She is becoming quite an expert at this sort of thing. She actually made Christmas Mince Pies for us as well, so that will be quite a treat! I will pass on your compliments.

    2. That makes perfect sense. :)

Christmas mince pies? Yum! Could you maybe share the recipe sometime?
