Be Courageous the 2nd

This is an excerpt of a post that was posted by Bonnie on Bonnie's Blessings but I liked it so am posting it here. :-) Hence the 'Be Courageous the 2nd' title...

The title of this post is Courageous. That is the name of a movie but also the title of this post (now)!
Courage. The dictionary defines it as the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger or pain with bravery. Some synonyms for courage include fearlessness, dauntlessness, intrepidity, pluck, spirit, valor and bravado. And the antonym? Cowardice.

Winston Churchill is a great source of quotes about courage. Some of his finest include “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” And probably his most famous quote, which almost everyone will be acquainted with, is “Never, never, never give up.”
Here are some more quotes about courage from several well known and not so well known people.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
Nelson Mandela

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
Winston Churchill

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.
Maya Angelou

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
Mark Twain

Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.
W. Clement Stone

One man with courage is a majority.
Thomas Jefferson

"...being confident of this, is that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." -Philippians 1:6 NIV
