Our family orchestra has grown again, with the latest addition that arrived yesterday!
For all of you that don't know, I play the harp and have been for the past 4 or 5 years. We own a small harp but it has finally become too small to play all the pieces on it. We were just thinking about a new harp which was quite daunting, as harps are very expensive, particularly the bigger they are. Our harp teacher just told us that someone in Auckland had a second hand harp for sale, for an amazingly good price. We are now the owners of this beautiful harp! We are so grateful to God for giving it to us.
It is a lovely honey colour and I think that it is the most beautiful harp I have ever seen. I think that I might be a bit biased, though! It is a very old harp so I have to spend ages this week tuning it carefully as the soundboard will break if it is tuned too much too quickly.
Harps are individually hand made. They are crafted especially for a purpose, by a harp maker who has a plan for the harp he is making. He spends weeks working on each harp until it is exactly perfect. We are like this -we have a maker who lovingly created us, individual and for a special reason. We are not an accident, we have been placed where we are because that is where the Lord wants us to be.
